Volunteers packed 900 backpacks with classic Back to School products, including Sharpie Markers, Elmer’s Glue Sticks and Paper Mate pencils and pens.
“For a team of people who work with Newell Brands products digitally, it has been truly special for us to work with those same products tangibly by giving back to the communities where we live and work,” said Jeremy Liebowitz, Division CEO, Global Ecommerce. “Launching this first-time volunteer event during the Back to School season adds significance in showing how donating our products can make life better for those underserved communities.”
Led by Linda Inwood, Office Administrator for Ecommerce, the event launched with great success - in both execution and participation.
“It’s inspiring to see that community involvement and philanthropy is at the heart of who we are as Newell Brands employees.”
“When reaching out to employees from our Hoboken and Union Square offices, we were overwhelmed by their enthusiastic responses to participate,” Linda shared.
The enthusiasm paid off, resulting in 900 supplies-filled backpacks donated to a local elementary school in Jersey City through our partnership with the Kids In Need Foundation. Involvement with the nonprofit continues growing as we continue participating in more initiatives like this backpack project, the recent Atlanta Back to School Bash.
