The school year is officially underway for the students and teachers of Atlanta Public Schools, and this year’s Back to School Bash kicked things off in style for the nearly 9,000 attendees who gathered in the Georgia World Congress Center on Saturday, July 29.
Presented by Newell Brands, the APS Back to School Bash buzzed with excitement from early morning into the afternoon as volunteers helped set up and manage carnival-like games, activities and exhibits featuring Newell Brands products.
Nearly 100 Newell Brands volunteers distributed over 128,000 products from a variety of brands, including those stuffed into the 5,000 backpacks donated to APS students in partnership with the Kids In Need Foundation. From making slime with Elmer’s Glue and playing Contigo water bottle ring toss to writing on the Sharpie Wall of Dreams and being fitted for Graco car seats, attendees of this year’s bash enjoyed a variety of fun activities involving our products.
An exciting and successful event, the bash brought smiles and laughter to students and parents, and drew the attention of local media outlets. Speaking to V103 FM, Kaye Morgan-Curtis, Senior Manager of Philanthropy, said, “We are so excited that we could come back for the second year in a row and get everyone Day One ready.”
