The Story
Paper Mate® InkJoy® brought home a big win in May when the team won the North America SABRE Award for Marketing to Youth in its “Stop Smears, #SpreadJoy” campaign. Congrats, team!

Having won the award, Paper Mate InkJoy now enters into the Global SABRE Awards, which recognizes the top 50 public relations campaigns in the world at the Global PR Summit in Miami this October.

The Awards
The SABRE Awards recognize campaigns that demonstrate the highest levels of strategic planning, creativity, execution and impact on business results.

The competition is stiff with more than 2,000 award entries from across the world from multinational PR agencies, small boutique agencies and in-house teams. The diversity of award entries and award winners proves it doesn’t matter where a great campaign idea originated from or the size of its budget – all that matters is the quality of its strategy, execution and outcome.

“The Stop Smears, #SpreadJoy” campaign started in 2016 with the launch of the Paper Mate InkJoy Gel Pens. In addition to its savvy partnership with singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes, the campaign’s fresh energy and ingenuity outshined other campaigns Paper Mate was up against, which included:

  • "Cool Kids" with Benzac—Benzac (Galderma) with W2O Group
  • #CATmageddon—Truth Initiative with Ketchum
  • McDonald's B-Boy Royale—McDonald's New York Tri-State with IW Group
  • The Nuisance Committee—The Nuisance Committee/Cards Against Humanity
