Steve Parsons is the Chief Human Resources Officer of Newell Brands. His focus is on partnering with the Newell Brands team across the enterprise to drive a world-class people agenda that anticipates and enables the business strategy and ensures a superior associate experience. His background includes operating in global, brand-focused consumer product services and retail companies.
Steve joined Newell Brands bringing broad human resources experiences centered around developing a diverse talent pipeline, succession planning, performance management, organizational design, talent acquisition strategies, diversity and inclusion and associate engagement. He has over 20 years of experience implementing human capital strategies and has held senior human resources positions at a range of companies including Stage Stores, Inc., OfficeMax, Inc., Rite Aid Corporation, and Whirlpool Corporation.
Prior to joining Newell Brands, he was Global Operating Partner, Human Capital, for Z Capital Partners, the private equity fund management arm of Z Capital Group. In this position, Steve was accountable for leading all global human capital strategies and served on the Board of Directors at several of the portfolio companies. While at OfficeMax, Inc., he was Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, leading all aspects of human resources for the company’s global operations; Steve also co-led OfficeMax’s integration with Office Depot, guiding all merger work streams and driving synergies.
Steve is a member of the Chicago Area Misericordia Siblings Association, an organization that provides care and maximizes the potential for persons with mild to profound developmental disabilities, many of whom are also physically challenged. Steve is a graduate of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
