Its comeback follows years of consumer requests, social media buzz, and resale listings from loyal users who never stopped searching for it.

A Fan-Favorite Since the 1980s

Originally launched in the 1980s, the Sharpie Extra Fine tip quickly became a favorite in classrooms, studios, job sites, and home offices. Its bold ink and clean lines made it a go-to tool for creative projects and everyday tasks.

Although the marker was eventually phased out to make room for other styles, fans never forgot it. One of those fans was Kansas City football coach Andy Reid, who reached out to Sharpie after running out of his personal stash. That moment helped spark a conversation with Walmart, leading to the marker’s return as a retailer-exclusive product.
