As a global company with employees of a wide range of races, ethnicities, nationalities and backgrounds, diversity is an important part of our One Newell culture. We recently held our second annual Global Diversity Awareness Month. This year’s theme, Awareness to Action, centered around empowering our employees to reflect, learn and celebrate what unites us as colleagues and makes us unique as individuals.

The month included educational programming through live virtual events in multiple languages and time zones to accommodate our global employee population. A LinkedIn Learning challenge tasked employees with completing at least three courses focused on Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (DI&B) for a chance to win prizes. Moving Stories, an organization that helps participants use their experiences to examine the power of diversity in their teams and companies, hosted three immersive sessions where employees stepped into others’ shoes to learn how to become more aware and inclusive in the workplace.

Members of our Training & Capabilities team hosted sessions focused on uncovering and addressing unconscious bias, managing with equity and integrating psychological safety into leadership. Kantar, one of Newell’s global data and insights partners, spoke to our employees about consumer marketing through an inclusivity lens. Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) hosted an interest meeting where Newell team employees could learn what it means to be a member of one of our nine ERGs.

Building connected, inclusive communities starts within our walls, and we’re proud to support our employees. To learn more about our ERGs and DI&B programming, visit the Our People page.
