What inspired you to apply for an internship at Newell Brands, and how did our iconic brands influence your decision?
“I previously worked in the CPG field at a smaller company and wanted to continue to grow in the CPG industry. What drew me to Newell specifically was the large portfolio of brands that ranged across topics and markets, and the possibility for growth in the company. I grew up with many of Newell’s iconic brands, from Graco® to Rubbermaid® and Ball®, in my own home and wanted to be a part of a company that housed so many household names.” – Holland Drew, Sales Planning Intern, Wake Forest University
“As a business major, I knew that I wanted to work for a company that not only had a strong market presence but also made products that had a strong impact on everyday life. Newell's portfolio of iconic brands stood out to me. It's rare to find a company where you can walk into a store and see the impact of its work on so many shelves. That visibility made me excited to be a part of something real and recognizable. I knew I would be able to learn a lot from the experience.” – Kadin Pilz, Sales Intern, Truett McConnell University
Can you share a moment during your internship when you felt you were truly making an impact?
“A moment during my internship where I felt I truly was making an impact when my team and I traveled to the High Point, NC Consumer Care office for a training visit. I saw firsthand the importance of these training sessions for offering insights into new product launches, troubleshooting techniques for existing items, and previews of future innovations. The knowledge from the quality experts as well as the ability to answer questions on the floor from the consumer team allows the team to deliver the best care and solution for the families that call in.” – Paige Rosckes, R&D Intern, Auburn University
How have you seen Newell Brands’ values—Integrity, Teamwork, Passion for Winning, Leadership, and Ownership—come to life in your day-to-day experience?
“Teamwork is a core value I’ve experienced daily on the IT Field Services team. There was so much I didn’t know at the start, but I never felt hesitant to ask for help. My team has been incredibly supportive, helping me grow my technical knowledge and confidence. Their willingness to guide me encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and take on new challenges.” – Mariah Jaeck, IT Field Services Intern, University of Georgia
“With every interaction I have had with a Newell Brands employee, I became more immersed in the company culture. As someone who is not native to the Atlanta area, I was nervous initially coming here, but the community here at Newell is like no other. Whether it was coffee chats with coworkers or team meetings, every person that I met this summer exemplified the values that Newell Brands stands for. The drive and passion that I saw during this summer towards their jobs of those around me helped motivate myself and put forth my best effort in every project I did.” – Sana Borkar, Finance & Real Estate Procurement Intern, Indiana University
What’s one skill or insight you’ve gained this summer that you’ll carry forward in your career?
“One skill I’m especially proud to have gained this summer is the ability to turn data into user-focused strategy. I learned how to take complex site metrics, competitor analysis, and user behavior patterns and transform them into actionable UX recommendations. It’s been so exciting to see how those insights can directly influence real decisions on a live eCommerce site. That connection between data and design thinking is something I’ll carry with me wherever I go.” – Ellie Bowman, DTC eCommerce Intern, University of Virginia
“One of the most valuable skills that I have gained this summer is the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively. I quickly realized that the work taking place in the finance team doesn’t happen in a vacuum, but it is deeply connected throughout other teams like marketing, supply chain, and MDP. Being able to ask the right questions and effectively communicate has been very important in working efficiently and will be extremely valuable as I progress through my professional career.” – John Turner, Finance Intern, University of Georgia
Can you describe a project or challenge that allowed you to think innovatively or solve a problem creatively?
“My entire project challenged me to think creatively as I developed new ideas and strategies for Sharpie®’s 2026 Holiday program. It required me to dive deep into past programs, identify strengths and gaps, and explore innovative ways to improve our go-to-market approach. It’s been exciting to blend creative thinking with data-driven insights to help move the brand forward.”– Parker Hendricks, Brand Marketing Intern, Brigham Young University (MBA)
“One project that allowed me to think creatively was a retailer registry project. I was tasked with conducting competitor research on baby registries and identifying best practices across the market. This required not only analyzing what other retailers were doing well, but also thinking critically about how this retailer could differentiate itself and better meet the needs of expecting parents. I combined competitive insights with user experience considerations to recommend actionable ideas that could improve the registry journey and increase engagement. It was a great opportunity to blend research, strategy, and creative problem-solving.” Syanna Gardner, Market Development & Planning Intern, Toronto Metropolitan University
If you could describe your internship experience in three words, what would they be—and why?
“The three words I would use to describe my internship experience would be challenging, impactful, and connection. This internship provided a lot of great challenges to overcome, especially because I did not have much experience with the role. It also allowed me to provide some impactful work to be left behind and continued by my team, as well as provided me with connections I will take with me and lean on in my professional career.” – Andrew Simmel, Customer Sales Intern, Clemson University
As these reflections show, the internship experience at Newell Brands is about discovering potential, embracing challenges, and contributing to something meaningful. Each story speaks to the impact of working in a collaborative environment where values are actively practiced and growth is encouraged. We appreciate the energy and perspective our interns bring, and we’re excited to see how they apply what they’ve learned as they continue building their careers.
