As families and educators prepared for the return to classrooms this fall, Newell Brands’ writing portfolio stood out as a trusted choice across the country. Through our ongoing partnership with TeacherLists, we gained meaningful insights into what teachers are requesting, and our brands were front and center.
This season, Newell writing products appeared on 53% of all school supply lists uploaded to the TeacherLists, a platform that helps schools and teachers share supply lists with parents online, making back-to-school shopping easier and more organized. This reach reflects the confidence educators place in our products to support learning.
Elmer’s glue bottles were featured on more than 200,000 lists, with the brand accounting for over 60% of all glue bottle requests.
Sharpie permanent markers appeared on over 220,000 lists and represented 94% of all permanent marker requests on the platform. That’s a 4% increase in list appearances compared to last year, reinforcing Sharpie’s role as a classroom essential.
Expo dry erase markers were requested on more than 600,000 lists this season, making up 54% of all dry erase marker requests. The brand continues to be a top choice for educators who rely on quality performance tools for instruction and collaboration.
Paper Mate erasable pens saw the largest year-over-year increase in list appearances among our writing brands. They were included on 32% of all lists requesting erasable pens, a 43% jump from last year. This trend highlights a rising preference for tools that support revision and flexibility in learning environments.
